The activation occurs during articulation of the chain by attracting the additive in the lubricant and adsorption occurs. With a new chain or a chain treated with Ludicrous Lube for the first time, a minimum of 2-3hrs riding followed by a clean and retreat will give optimum results. Then, pre-race, 30 mins of riding will get you to the absolute performance sweet spot. As the additives start adsorbing on either side of the contact, the formation of a low friction plane is initiated, and friction starts to decrease.
